Easiest way to replace your lost academic certificate
According to Knec, if you lose your certificates, you can apply for a letter of certification.
“To apply, a copy of either the original certificate or result slip is a mandatory requirement,” Knec says.
However, if you don’t have either, you can apply for a statement of results (confirmation), which is a great option done on a need basis, it says.
“This will be sent directly to the institution that needs to verify your exam results,” Knec says.
To apply for a certification letter, you will be required to register an account at https://qmis.knec.ac.ke.
You will then be required to log in with the credentials sent to your email.
You will then go to the menu and select the ‘lost certificate’ option, then fill in the index number, type of exam and the year then click find.
According to Knec, you will then be required to attach a copy of the lost certificate /results slip which is a mandatory requirement, both sides of your Identity Card, passport size photo, police abstract, and a confirmation from the registrar of person available at NSSF building.
Once you are done with attaching the required documents, you will be required to submit the application and then wait for verification of the application.
You will then receive an SMS notification to log in, make a payment of Sh 5,220 and wait for the application to be processed.
Knec advises that you keep checking on the system to know the status of the application.
“Once the process is complete, you will receive an SMS notification to collect your certification letter from the Knec offices,”
Knec says the process can be done online hence ho need to go to their offices in person.
