COTU Urges TSC to Resolve KUPPET Strike Through Negotiation, Not Court Orders

The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU), under the leadership of Francis Atwoli, has criticized the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for its approach to the ongoing teachers’ strike led by the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET).

COTU condemned TSC’s reliance on court orders to suppress the strike, labeling this as “bullying.” Atwoli called on the TSC to engage in constructive dialogue with KUPPET and finalize a return-to-work agreement, emphasizing that the teachers are simply exercising their constitutional rights.

Despite the court ruling to suspend the strike, KUPPET has urged its members to persist with the industrial action until their demands, such as the implementation of their Collective Bargaining Agreement, are fully met.
